Virginia Commonwealth University

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a public research university in Richmond, Virginia. It was originally established in 1838 as the medical department of Hampden-Sydney College, becoming an independent institution known as the Medical College of Virginia. In 1968, the campus merged with Richmond Professional Institute, to become Virginia Commonwealth University. Today VCU has an enrollment of over 32,000 students and employs 5,600 faculty members and 3,200 staff members across all campuses.

VCU ranks among the 30 largest research universities in the United States with $287 million annual research expenditures and $543 million endowment funds (as of 2017). Rush offers an accelerated BSN completion program for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree or have the equivalent of 90 semester hours of college credit with an A GPA and no lower than a 2.5 GPA in the last 60 credits earned before beginning this program (30 transfer credits). The program takes 16 weeks to complete and is offered during spring and summer terms only; tuition is $18,500 per year plus fees which vary by course/semester depending on whether you’re taking courses full-time or part-time (if applicable).
