2. Indexical signs are those that point to something else, usually with the help of another body part like the finger. For example, the sign for ‘this’ is made by pointing to the object with your index finger.

3. Descriptive signs are those that describe an object or action. For example, the sign for ‘big’ is made by making a large circle in front of your chest with both hands.

Basic Grammar Rules

1. Every sentence must have a subject and a verb.
2. A singular subject must have a singular verb and a plural subject must have a plural verb.

Fingerspelling

Fingerspelling is a method of spelling out words using your fingers. It is commonly used in sign language to spell out names and places.

Fingerspelling can be used to spell out any word, but it is most commonly used for proper nouns, such as people’s names or the names of places. To fingerspell a word, you hold up your hand and use your fingers to spell out each letter of the word.

There are two types of fingerspelling: the alphabetical method and the locative method. The alphabetical method is used more often in English-speaking countries, while the locative method is more common in Spanish-speaking countries.

Tofingerspell properly, you need to know which hand to use and how to form the letters correctly. You also need to be able to read fingerspelled words quickly.

Numbers
