University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) 5-Year BSN Pathway for High School Graduates

The 5-year BSN Pathway for High School Graduates is designed to provide a pathway for high school graduates to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in five years. It consists of the following components:

  • A required summer bridge course at UAB or another partner institution
  • Two 90-hour credit practicums held on campus during each fall semester, with one semester being reserved for an Enhancing Diversity in Healthcare Immersions experience
  • One spring break trip to an underserved community as part of the Diverse Community Outreach Experience course

University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing

The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing offers a variety of nursing degrees that are designed to prepare students for careers as nurses. Students can earn an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing. The program also provides optional specialty certificates in hematology/oncology, trauma and emergency care, psychiatric/mental health and geriatric care.

The school has several campuses across the state that offer students access to career resources, research opportunities and academic support services.

Students can choose from more than 15 different concentrations within their respective programs including: administration; anesthesia; behavioral health; critical care; community health education; developmental disabilities; diabetes teaching clinic; hospice nursing; medical surgical nursing (MSN); neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) certification; nurse educator certification program (NCLEX-RN); operating room (OR); pediatric acute care certification program (PACCN); pediatrics specialty track; psychiatric mental health nursing clinical practice track; respiratory therapy clinical practice track (RT).

National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence

The NLN Center of Excellence for Simulation, Innovation and Leadership in Nursing Education was established in 2002 to support faculty members across the country as they integrate simulation into their curricula. The Center provides a variety of resources to help nursing schools integrate simulation-based learning into all aspects of education, including clinical experiences and teaching methods.

The NLN Center offers resources such as:

  • Training opportunities for faculty members interested in using simulation tools to enhance curriculum content and pedagogy
  • Information about funding opportunities for institutions interested in purchasing or developing new technologies that may be used for the purpose of enhancing student learning through simulation
  • Guidance on selecting among various types of technology available to schools at different levels (K-12 through higher education)

University at Albany SUNY, School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy, Management and Behavior (HPMB)

SUNY University at Albany’s School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy, Management and Behavior (HPMB) offers a BS in Nursing with the option for a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner. The department is a leader in nursing education and research.

Students in this program will learn about:

  • nursing practice through both didactic and clinical experiences
  • health assessment skills including physical assessment techniques as well as screening tools such as vital signs
  • interpersonal communication skills including listening/responding techniques appropriate to specific situations

Arizona State University (ASU) College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation – Nursing@ASU

Nursing@ASU is a program that allows students to complete their bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2.5 years instead of the traditional 4 years. It is a cohort-based program, meaning all students start at the same time, work through the program together and are guided by faculty members who are teaching other courses as well. In addition, Nursing@ASU is an accelerated program, which means it allows for more contact hours per semester than typically offered during one academic year at other institutions.

Boston University Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice Program (MENP)

The Boston University Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice Program (MENP) is a program for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field.

The curriculum is focused on the fundamentals of nursing practice, with the goal of preparing you for entry level practice as an RN or APRN. The program follows the guidelines established by Massachusetts state law to prepare you for licensure as an R.N., as well as certification in one or more specialty areas of nursing upon completion of MENP requirements.

MENP has been approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MBRN), and meets all state requirements necessary to apply for licensure and certification exams through BON once all coursework is complete, including passing required exams.*

Boston College Connell School of Nursing

Boston College Connell School of Nursing

Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Boston College is a Jesuit, Catholic university that offers an online Master’s Entry into Nursing Practice Program (MENP), which can lead to the LPN-RN Bridge Certificate. The program consists of four courses: Introduction to Nursing Research; Leadership and Management for Nurse Managers; Leadership for Nurse Practitioners; and Clinical Fundamentals. In addition to being accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), BC is also recognized as a member of the National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence.
