School Of Nursing Scholarship

The School of Nursing is proud to offer the School Of Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all students interested in pursuing a career as a nurse, but we encourage those with previous experience in nursing to apply.

Conditions of Award

  • You must be enrolled in a nursing program.
  • You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • You must submit both an application form and short 500-750 word essay explaining their career goals and how this scholarship would help them achieve those aspirations.

The award will be given to students who have had experience in the field of nursing, such as previous work experience as a nurse’s aide.

You must be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, and you must agree to complete a minimum of 3 semester hours per quarter in order to receive this award.

Due to the cost of tuition, the scholarship will be awarded based on need and merit. If a student is unable to demonstrate ‘needed’ financial aid, they will be ineligible for the scholarship. This requires students to have an approved federal FAFSA form.

In order for a student to be eligible for the scholarship, they must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. This will include associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees. The program must prepare students for a career as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. It can also be used towards licensure if the student plans on working in another country outside the United States after graduating.
  • Demonstrate financial need through an approved federal FAFSA form. This form is required by most schools and states in order to receive any sort of aid, including scholarships and grants.
  • Be able to demonstrate their merit by having academic success during high school or college years (GPA).

Students must demonstrate strong academic success, preferably with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Department of Nursing at the University of Florida is offering four scholarships to students pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing, as well as an opportunity for graduate students to apply for scholarships through the School of Nursing Graduate Program.

Our mission is to advance health care by producing compassionate, highly competent nurses who make a positive difference in people’s lives. We believe that our graduates will have opportunities that go beyond their careers, including service learning experiences with non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity or Big Brothers Big Sisters; working overseas in countries where there are few health care professionals; or even running for public office!
