The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program is designed to prepare students for successful entry into the field of professional nursing. The program has been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) since 1954 and is one of the oldest programs in Texas. The program curriculum prepares students to function as professionals within a variety of healthcare settings including acute care, home health, long-term care, community health agencies and hospitals.

BSN Admission Requirements:

If accepted into Nursing University Of Houston’s BSN program, students must complete coursework (approximately 15 graduate semester credit hours) in basic sciences (including anatomy & physiology), clinical experiences (including pharmacology & pathophysiology), leadership skills development and advanced clinical electives (which are selected by each student individually).

The MPAHN program will be a 30-semester credit hour (SCH) fully online program comprised of ten 3-SCH courses which are completed sequentially over 5 semesters.

The first two quarters of the program are focused on foundational science content, while the last two quarters focus on preparing for clinical practice in a variety of settings.

The curriculum is designed to integrate knowledge from various disciplines related to maternal child health and nutrition into one comprehensive curriculum that builds upon previous learning experiences. Students will begin by learning about pregnancy through breastfeeding from an anthropological perspective before moving into physiological processes such as digestion and absorption during fetal development through childhood into adolescence until maturity at adulthood when nutritional needs change again because aging has taken place over time due to changes in physiology throughout life stages for optimal health outcomes among all ages

It’s important to note that there are three different types of nursing degrees offered by the University Of Houston:

• BSN – Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This is a four-year program, leading to a degree that qualifies you as an RN. It’s the most common type of nursing degree pursued by students looking to enter the working world after graduation.
• MSN – Master’s Degree in Nursing (also referred to as “advanced practice”). This degree takes two years beyond your BSN and qualifies you for more advanced roles such as nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist.
• DNP – Doctorate in Nursing Practice (also known as doctoral-level). This is another two-year program which leads up to your earning an advanced doctorate in nursing science, giving you greater autonomy than other advanced practice nurses might have in making decisions related to patient care and management.
